Lake Erie Walleye Fishing

The Walleye fishing on Lake Erie has been fantastic for the last 4 seasons. The walleye hatch of the 2005 and 2006 seasons were well above average and should give us an abundance of fish in the 15" to 21" range. We are still working the enormous 2003 hatch which was a record hatch for Lake Erie. This hatch should produce many trophies in 25 to 28 inch range during the 2010 season. We begin fishing in early April as the fish are in the middle of their annual spawning cycle. During this time we find schools of aggressive, territorial spawners and use jigs and blade baits to entice these fish. Once the spawning run is complete in early May, we switch our techniques to ensure that we are always giving our customers the best fishing opportunity. At this time we begin drifting with night crawlers used on several types of lures. This is a legendary technique for luring walleye out of the waters of Lake Erie. We also begin trolling with spoons and crankbaits, which is also a terrific way to fill your cooler with these tasty fish.
