Lake Ontario Salmon Fishing This will be our 20th season on Lake Ontario out of Olcott, New York. Lake Ontario has the highest quality Salmon and Trout fishing on the Great Lakes, and Olcott is one of the top producing ports year in and year out. Located just 30 minutes East of Niagara Falls, NY, it makes for a Great vacation spot. The king salmon regularly break the 30 pound mark from this great port, making Olcott an obvious destination for someone who is after a true trophy fish! Along with the great king salmon fishery, the steelhead fishing is also truly phenomenal. There are many Steelhead running in the 15 -20 pound range. (The State record for Steelhead was set 3 years ago out of Olcott, with a 32 1/2 pound fish.) In 2008 and 2009 the Coho fishing on Lake Ontario was the best it has ever been, with many fish in the 12 - 15 pound range.
