Lake Erie Perch Fishing The perch fishing on Lake Erie during the 2009 season was the best in recent history. Fishing was great for perch right up until the ice kept us from getting out of the harbor. As the season progressed the fish seemed to get closer and closer to shore, making it very easy to fill a cooler with this delicacy. Along with the great quantities of fish, the size of the fish was also great as well. The average size of the fish on most trips was in the 7-11 inch range with many fish topping the 12 inch mark. 2010 should see much more of the same fantastic fishing. One great feature of perch fishing with a Michigan charter instead of an Ohio charter, is the bag limit is 50 fish per person in Michigan as opposed to 25 in Ohio.
